Residents of Stamford experience a number of pest concerns.. Factors that contribute to pest health and the likelihood that they’ll cause problems include humidity, temperature, and the availability of food and water. Areas like High Ridge and North Stamford are replete with natural waterways, ponds, and small lakes, all of which contribute to possible pest management problems like rodents and wasps.
The most frequent pest control problem Fox encounters in Stamford is rodents. Mice and rats take shelter in residents’ homes and search for food. They gnaw through electrical wires, chew on walls, split open food containers, tear up fabric and wall insulation to make nests, and cause many other problems. The biggest risk of a rodent infestation is the diseases they can carry; these include babesiosis, hantavirus, leptospirosis, rat-bite fever, various hemorrhagic fevers, and the plague. Even during the coldest winter months, rats and mice can bring ticks and fleas into the home, which also spread disease.
Wasps are the single most dangerous pest problem Fox usually deals with. Even though many people might have some minor swelling for a few days after a sting, other people can have a more severe reaction with extreme swelling that lasts longer than a few days. Severe allergic reactions like anaphylaxis are life-threatening. Some wasp species make large nests in eaves and soffits or trees, and others make nests in abandoned rodent burrows. If your house is home to a wasp nest in the siding or the eaves, never try to seal off the holes to prevent the wasps from leaving. This could cause the wasps to tunnel into the walls and break through into the house, flying into kitchen areas, basements, or bedrooms.
Michael Sneed, one of our very own Fox technicians and a popular Stamford exterminator, loves spending time in Stamford. Michael lived in this big city for a year when he moved to Connecticut from White Plains, NY. Because he values learning and growing both professionally and personally, Michael took classes from UConn Stamford while living there. Even after moving from the city, he believes Stamford has the best mix of diversity he’s ever seen in Connecticut.
As one of our Stamford Pest Control technicians, Michael is always looking for opportunities to contribute and help those in a community he holds so dear. He found out through his route that we service a nonprofit called Lucky Dog Refuge in Stamford. Michael loves animals, so he refers people to them for service opportunities and pet adoption often. While out and about, he also stops in at Mish Mosh pizzeria for what he refers to as “delicious food and a great stop.”
Michael especially enjoys connecting with the customers he sees on his route. “My really good customers will flag me down,” he said. “You get to know them so well. I’ve seen babies born and kids graduate.” As a family man himself, this is fulfilling for him to see. Michael shared one experience in particular that stands as a testament to why building relationships with customers matters. One of the customers on Michael’s route is a kindergarten teacher. Through getting to know her and her family while servicing their home, he found out she was due to have a baby girl at the same time his cousin was due to have a boy. His cousin was gracious enough to give him some of the gifts she received for a baby girl before they knew the gender so he could deliver them to the customer. Michael was grateful he could help a customer who gives so much to the community. We’re proud to employ technicians like Michael who take Fox Pest Control customer service to a new level.
As a company, Fox takes part in several organizations that bolster the cities in our service area. We’re proud members of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce which comprises close to 1,000 small businesses and corporations. In 2020, we also partnered with Stamford Moms, a site that gives parents all the information, resources, and deals a Stamford resident could ask for.
We want to give a special thanks to Michael, the Stamford Chamber of Commerce, and Stamford Moms for giving Fox a platform to stay connected with our incredible Stamford community!
Pests come in all shapes and sizes. From ants in your kitchen, to termites in your foundation, bug infestations are an inevitable part of homeownership in Connecticut. Some bugs are just a nuisance, like silverfish or crickets which like dark damp places. Other pests like termites or rodents are cause for concern as they cause property damage and can carry disease. Whatever the pest problem you might have in Connecticut, you came to the right place. Fox Pest Control is experienced at combating whatever Connecticut pest might be bothering you.
You might already know you have a pest problem. But here are a couple of the most common signs a pest control extermination look for in Connecticut.
There are many pests that are nearly impossible to eliminate without the help of a professional exterminator. Termites, ants, ticks, fleas, carpenter ants, and bed bugs are all among the pests that are extremely difficult and time-consuming to root out of a home without the proper extermination knowledge, equipment, and experience.
Extermination professionals have the proper training and certification to get rid of pests that spread diseases, cause home damage, and cause emotional distress, including mosquitoes, ticks, termites, carpenter ants, cockroaches, and bed bugs.
Most Connecticut pest problems cannot be thoroughly controlled without years of pest control experience. The products available for purchase at your local hardware store just aren’t as effective as our integrated pest management techniques that safely use professional products and also take pest behavior into account.
Responsible companies like Fox Pest Control use products that are proven to get rid of pests while also being environmentally responsible.
Pesticides that are reviewed and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are not illegal as long as they are used according to the label instructions.
Our environmentally friendly products are uniquely designed to get rid of the pests while also allowing you to enjoy the comfort and safety of your home. Our products are designed to be child and pet friendly.
We combine modern Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques with a variety of environmentally responsible products. Since each situation — and each pest — is different, we make adjustments accordingly. Speak to our customer service representatives for a list of products used during your service call.
For up to three months after the application, any bugs, insects, or other pests that come across the area will be exterminated. You can rest easy knowing we are controlling the bugs so you can focus on what matters most to you.
During your first service for our standard Home Protection Plan (HPP), we treat the inside of your home to help root out any pests inside. We won’t need to treat the inside of your home again unless you specifically request an inside service.
Yes. Each Home Protection Plan (HPP) comes with our Fox Money-Back Guarantee. Call our customer service representatives to let us know if pests come back between your regular services, and we will come back to treat the pests again, free of charge.
For the standard Home Protection Plan, we plan to service the outside of your Connecticut home on a seasonal basis (roughly once every three months).
As long as our technicians have full access to your front and back yard, no one needs to be at home if we are doing a standard pest control treatment of the home’s exterior. However, if you specifically request a treatment of the interior of your home, an adult must be present before our technician can enter.
Now is the best time to consider hiring Fox Pest Control to exterminate pests, because it’s not a question of IF, but WHEN the pests will invade the wall voids, the space inside soffits or eaves, gutters, cracks in the siding, and eventually make their way to the house.
Professional Connecticut pest control services can save both time and money. Since do-it-yourself methods aren’t effective over the long term, a homeowner can spend endless amounts of time using ineffective methods. Pests like termites and carpenter ants can cause hundreds of thousands of dollars in home repair costs that are not covered by insurance.
As long as the home has food, water, and shelter, pests are just as attracted to a clean home as they are to a dirty one. When insects have infested a house, cleaning and thorough sanitation techniques root them out of their hiding places and destroy their eggs. However, cleaning inside doesn’t necessarily stop the bugs on the outside thinking about wanting to come in. That’s where Fox Pest Control can really help.
Rodents, mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas can spread nasty diseases including West Nile virus, babesiosis, rickettsiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Fever, Typhus, the bubonic plague, Tularemia, Malaria, and much more.
Many people in Connecticut are stung by insects like wasps every year. Some people are allergic to these stings. Because their stinger isn’t barbed, wasps, bumblebees, and some carpenter bees are capable of stinging multiple times.
All our products are formulated and proven by the EPA to be the environmentally responsible choice for effective pest control.
Fox offers organic exterminator treatment products upon customer request. Please speak with our customer service representatives for further details.
There are several pests that are difficult to exterminate and control without professional help because they hide effectively, reproduce quickly, and are extremely hardy. Cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, ticks, and termites are among the most difficult pests to eradicate.
Many insects find a warm place to hide, such as the wall voids of your house. They go into a type of hibernation called diapause until spring.
Other insects lay eggs that survive the winter and hatch when the weather warms.
Pests survive the winter by finding a hiding place in your house or by laying eggs that withstand the cold.
At any time during the cold months, the area could suddenly warm up, which will activate the pests. Our winter treatments will catch and exterminate these pests before they can become a problem again in the spring.
Mice and rat problems reach their peak during the coldest months of the year, which is another reason to treat your Connecticut home during the winter. Rats and mice can sometimes bring other pests to your home, even during the winter, including ticks and fleas.
